As my final project for my 3D Engineering and Design class I had to create a model of linear to rotational motion. I decided to the radial engine as it was a unique model that allowed all pistons to be viewed with one cutaway.
Using Fusion 360 I created a CAD model of the engine. I was able to simulate the rotational motion and confirm my design effectiveness.
To build the design I used 3D printing and laser cutting skills. The pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft and output handle were all 3D printed in different colors of PLA. I designed a texture pattern for the output handle to increase grip. I used a laser cutter to create the wood back and acrylic front plate.
